Crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli National Park is known for its huge herds of African elephants. The park has over 1600 Elephant individuals that freely roam the park and love to put on a show for their human counterparts.
On our most recent trip to Kenya, we were fortunate enough to visit the park that is home to the tallest peak in Africa. On our very first game drive, we spotted two lions and cheetahs, a tower of giraffes, and, what we were most looking forward to, a huge herd of elephants. However, some of you may be confused. Why would we anticipate elephants, a comparably common sighting, more than any of the big cats? To quote our driver and guide, Samuel, "Elephants alone are majestic, no doubt. But in a herd, that's when they are entertaining". This picture proves just how right he was, barely five minutes later. Two of these huge tuskers intertwined their trunks and started shoving each other! What initially looked like a friendly tussle was starting to escalate into a minor scuffle, with the rest of the herd watching from afar, finding it just as amusing as us.
